Wrap Up in Warmth: The Story Behind the TASHKENT Baby Alpaca Throws

Welcome to Studio Erhart, where every piece tells a story.
Today, I want to share with you our TASHKENT baby alpaca throws and the story behind their creation.
It's freezing here in Madrid, and what better way to stay warm than with a cozy alpaca throw? But not just any alpaca throw, we wanted to create something truly unique and special. That's why we chose baby alpaca, a material that is not only warmer and more durable than cashmere, but also hypoallergenic. We sourced it directly from where the alpacas are, in Peru.
But we didn't stop there. We wanted to take this piece to the next level, so we decided to add a border of delicate Ikat silk. The silk is directly sourced from a family-owned weavers atelier in Bukhara, Uzbekistan. This added another level of craftsmanship and quality to the throw.
Once everything arrives in Madrid, our skilled seamstress Isabel takes great care in applying the Ikat silk border onto the throw. It's not as easy as it seems, as the wool and the silk have different thicknesses and the silk slips away while sewing. The result is a throw that is not only beautiful and warm, but also a true testament to the craftsmanship of our artisans.
Each TASHKENT throw is truly unique, and we never got the same Ikat silk tinted or colour. And recently, we just made it in this beautiful royal blue shade.
You can use it as a cozy blanket on a cold winter afternoon or drape it over your sofa or bed for an instant style upgrade.
